She understands firsthand the dedication and resilience it takes to pursue big goals—having spent four years training toward her dream of qualifying for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials in the marathon, a journey that taught her as much about patience and perseverance as it did about performance.
Adriana earned her B.A. in Psychology with a Markets and Management Certificate from Duke University and her M.S. in Sport Psychology from Florida State University, where she published her thesis in 2013. She is a National Board Certified Health and Wellbeing Coach at Wake Forest University, working one-on-one with students, staff, and faculty to provide guidance, accountability, and encouragement in reaching their health and wellness goals.
Over the years, Adriana has supported athletes and individuals of all abilities, from youth participants to Division I competitors. Although she is still training, her primary focus is to give back to the community and to help others achieve their hopes and dreams. She believes in the notion that each one of us has a unique potential and purpose, and with the use of strength-based inquiry, positive psychology, and smart-goal setting, she wants to help you discover what that purpose is.
olympic trials
At the end of 2016, I decided to pursue a goal that most believed I was crazy to attempt: I decided that I was going to try to qualify for the 2020 USA Olympic Marathon Trials. I spent four years dedicating myself to the pursuit of this one goal. All of my choices revolved around what would increase my chances of getting on that line. There were many bumps along the way, and to be perfectly honest, there were moments when I questioned what the hell I was doing. Lots of people couldn’t comprehend why I would choose to sacrifice so much for one day, one race, one moment. In those 4 years, I encountered countless setbacks and many times, I felt broken, both physically and emotionally; but I think that without those obstacles, I wouldn’t be who I am today. Without all the heartbreak, I wouldn’t appreciate all the triumph. To read more about my journey to a dream come true, click below.
